Ex-FBI chief Comey’s ‘86 47’ social media post condemned by White House as attempt to put ‘hit’ on p

Comey has such a huge, cult-like following that he had to couch his instructions in a vague, ambiguous term - and even then, hide it in a pattern of seashells in the sand - so as not to unleash 1000s of hitmen all at once. MAGA should definitely prosecute. It might even be that national emergency we need to declare martial law and finally do away with that trite pretense of habeas corpus.

Remember how the right used to deride hate speech laws because hate speech was based on intentions? Example:

“Hate speech is any form of expression through which speakers intend to vilify, humiliate, or incite hatred against a group or a class of persons on the basis of race, religion, skin color, sexual identity, gender identity, ethnicity, disability, or national origin.”

The problem that the right correctly identified is, how does one prove an intention? If you believe that Comey that is a “malevolent twit”, then probably you are going to read into his words horrible intent. If you respect Comey, you likely would see the common meaning of 86 here. This kind of arbitrary power of interpretation is hardly one I would want to invest in the government.

86 has a meaning in restaurants which is delete. In crime lingo it's kill.
Go to college usually means off to get an education. In crime lingo it's go to jail.
Take him for a ride also means, in crime lingo, to kill.
I took a haircut means in finance to lose money.
There are 1,000s of these terms which have dire meanings.

If Comey is such a innocent little (7 foot tall) flower, then he should not have removed it and continued with the "I didn't know it meant to kill someone. Geesh, I never heard of that in all my decades of law enforcement."

Comey is/was/will be a slime. The epitome of a Swamp Creature who has little, if any, morals, integrity, honor and courage. There are 1,000s of Comeys in power in the USA. The DOJ should make an example of him to discourage others from doing likewise (see Martha Stewart).

 

If he had said " take 47 to the train station", that is a different conversation.

 

Comey helped put Trump in the White House the first time. Now he wants to get him out? Come on, Comey, make up your mind.

 

I'm still waiting for an answer. If it was completely innocuous, why delete it? If everybody knew he was talking about "86" like a waitress would "86" a cheeseburger, seems like Comey would have allowed the post to stand. Although, might be worth pointing out that when a restaurant "86's" a cheeseburger, they typically dump the remains in a garbage can or a dumpster afterwards. But let's not get caught up in semantics. Comey's post was light banter. Why delete it then?

Like I said above. Anyone who thinks Comey is slime is going to take the less charitable interpretation of his message. If you thought I was slime, surely you could find all kinds of terrible posts I’ve made on this board. And if a jury were filled with 12 people who thought I was slime, surely they could convict me. But if all 12 of my jurors thought I was slime, I’d request a different jury.

 

Deleting a tweet cuz maga nation made it controversial isnt a crime. Neither is 86 / 47. You guys crack me up. Comey is a loser who put Trump in the White House. He was unique in that he made bad decisions regularly so everyone dislikes him (or his work). Regardless, he didnt threaten anyone.

Well, there's a pretty wide gulf between prosecuting him for criminal intent and extrapolating actual harm to the POTUS being the design here, vs calling him out for being patently, insultingly (to minimal intelligence)...

I gave you his answer above. He deleted it after he came to realize other people could interpret it as him calling for the assassination of the president. I had never heard of this darker meaning for 86, and I’d do the same thing if I were in that position. And I’d hate to find out that me trying to be sensitive to other people’s perspectives is actually evidence that I meant to kill all along.

 

I've seen them in traffic over the past few months, plus I've seen 8647 on social media for a while now too. Comey did not invent it.
