Miller learns more about the Florida Gators during his official

The Florida Gators had two of their commits on campus this weekend for official visits.

Linebacker Ventrell Miller (6-1, 210, Lakeland, FL. Kathleen) was one of those commits on campus and he enjoyed his time in Gainesville.

“The visit was very good, I had fun and enjoyed myself,” Miller said. “Basically went out with the players and we went to Coach Mac’s house today [Sunday]. We got to tour the campus and all that kind of stuff. Vosean Joseph and David Reese were my host.”

While hanging out with Reese and Joseph, Miller got the chance to learn more about the Gators defense and defensive coordinator Randy Shannon.

“I actually learned a lot from them and they were telling me what I can expect when I get here,” he said of Reese and Joseph. “They were telling me that playing under Coach Shannon is good because he’s going to keep it real with you. They said there’s an opportunity for me to come in and play here.”

Miller also got the chance to talk with Shannon and the Gators coach shared a message with the commit.

“He was basically saying that he was waiting for me to graduate,” Miller said of Shannon’s message. “He told me to stick it out through high school and be ready to be a Gator. He was saying to stay in shape and keep my mobility because he doesn’t really wanting me to get that big.”

McElwain and Miller also got the chance to talk and bond a little more this weekend.

“It went good, Coach Mac said he was happy that I’m a Gator,” he said of his conversations with McElwain. “He was saying the same thing that Coach Shannon was saying about waiting on me to graduate. He said that they like to play to young guys, I’m looking forward to getting on the field and proving myself.”

Being one of two commits on campus Miller had the chance to do some recruiting for the Gators this weekend.

“I was in James’ [Robinson] ear and in Levi’s [Jones] ear too,” Miller said of who he was recruiting. “I’m just trying to get James out here with us, he enjoyed himself a lot this weekend. There’s a chance he might come but I’m not sure. I enjoyed myself with Levi too, that was who I was with the whole time. He was enjoying his time and he said that Florida was in consideration.”

Miller also got the chance to spend some time with some early enrollees this weekend and they talked to Florida with him as well.

“I got to spend some time with some of the guys that enrolled early,” he said. “I was with [Kemore] Gamble, James Houston and all of them boys. We all went out and night and I had fun with all of those boys. I got to bond with those guys and they were saying good things about Florida.”

The Gators also got some good news from Miller this weekend in regards to the linebacker’s plans going forward.

“That’s all the visits for me,” Miller said. “I’m just waiting on signing day now.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Getting Miller to shut it down was huge and the linebacker has a chance to see the field early for Florida.
