Todd Golden’s Florida Gators landed their first commitment from the transfer portal just nine days after winning the 2025 National Championship. Princeton’s Xaivian Lee, a 6’4, 180-pound guard from Toronto, Canada, pledged to Florida on Wednesday evening via social media.
Lee took visits with St. John’s, Kansas, and Florida before ultimately deciding on the Gators for his senior season. Lee ranked as one of the top prospects in the portal and will have one year of eligibility remaining.
In 2024-25, Lee averaged 16.9 points per game while shooting 36.6% from three, a marked improvement after shooting 23.2% and 33.8% from beyond the arc during his freshman and sophomore seasons at Princeton. According to Gator Country’s own Eric Fawcett, Lee took 115 three-pointers off the dribble last season and hit 41% of them.
Lee isn’t just a scorer as he averaged 5.5 assists per game last season and ranked 19th in the country in assist rate. Lee has also averaged 5.7 and 6.1 rebounds per game over his last two seasons, posting an impressive defensive rebounding rate of 20.4.

While there’s likely no replacing Walter Clayton Jr., Lee has the athleticism, scoring ability, and workload to handle Clayton’s role from Florida’s National Championship season.
Lee is Florida’s first transfer portal commitment of the offseason, but Golden and his staff are still talking to a number of guards in search of their replacements for the senior trio, including Ohio’s AJ Brown (brother of current Gator Isaiah Brown), James Madison’s Bryce Lindsay, and Australian Ben Henshall.
