July is one of the biggest months of the year when it comes to recruiting high school players and the Gators found themselves right in the mix going from big event to big event seeing the top players in the country, and one of their favorites was 6’4” guard Jasiah Jervis.
Jervis was already known as a quality recruit coming into the last several weeks as the 63rd ranked player in the class of 2026, but judging by his play, his team’s success, and the kind of schools that fell in love with his game and sent offers–that number is about to go way up.
Hailing from White Plains, New York, Jervis attends Archbishop Stepinac where he had a strong season competing against some of the heralded schools of that area. However, things really took off for him on the AAU circuit where he took the floor for New York Renaissance (often called the New York Rens, for short) and played incredible basketball in what was an extremely successful summer for the program.
Standing at 6’4”, Jervis has perfect size for the combo or off guard position and he uses it to be a major scoring threat whether as a driver with an excellent first step or as a shooter where he takes no hesitation or extra dribbles when he gets the ball and he’s open. There is an urgency with the way Jervis plays–the kind of “every possession matters” toughness that old school New York guards were known for, and something that Jervis seems to embody. In AAU events full of players trying to string together as many dribbles as possible and show off every move in their arsenal with every play, Jervis lets the game come to him and takes what the defense gives him, and it allowed him to put up excellent individual success while his team piled up wins and became the talk of the Nike circuit.
Offensive versatility is a strength for Jervis and he is able to score in a variety of ways, but he still is known primarily for his pretty jump shot that makes you think the ball is always going in the moment it leaves his fingertips. This was on display in the quarterfinals of Peach Jam where he hit 6 threes in quick succession, electrifying the crowd and leading his team.
It’s not often that players with a high level of talent also play the way that is conducive to the style of the college game, but watching Jervis’ pace and decision making it looks like he will make a smooth transition to the next level. Tons of coaches agreed, as his performances in July led to offers from Florida, Michigan, Michigan State, Illinois, Northwestern, NC State, Villanova, and Xavier among others.
Currently he has visits confirmed to Michigan State, Northwestern, and NC State, with the Northwestern and NC State visits being his earliest scheduled ones before his recruitment got to a different level the following weeks. Because his recruitment has blown up in the last few weeks there are a lot of new factors to consider and he is going to have his pick of a lot of different schools, but the Gators are considered to be heavily in the mix and are thought to be one of the schools that will be around when he makes his final decision.
