Florida Gators guard Will Richard was selected with the 56th overall pick by the Golden State Warriors in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft. Three Gators were selected in the NBA Draft for the first time since 2007 and second time in program history.
Richard, Todd Golden’s first ever commit at UF, helped Florida claim the 2024-25 National Championship with a team-high 18 points and eight rebounds including 14 first half points vs Houston.
“Playing for Florida, it means a lot,” Richard said. “Being on the team, wearing that Gator logo, it means everything. We’re paying them back by winning. You want to win at a high level, get Florida back to national relevance.”
After returning for his senior season, Richard averaged 13.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. The 6’4, 206 pound guard is Florida’s all-time transfer leader in steals (129). He also ranks among Florida’s career transfer leaders with 1,275 points (second), 201 3-point field goals (second), 470 rebounds (third), 148 assists (fifth), 48 blocks shots (fifth) and an .833 free throw percentage (seventh).
Although slightly undersized for a guard, Richard holds a 6’10 wingspan which should help him in the NBA. Richard is also sound in transition offense, where he averaged 3.9 points per game last season to rank in the top 100 in Division one basketball, per Synergy Sports tracking.
Richard ranked 27th on ESPN’s ‘best prospects’ list, which was released ahead of the NBA Draft.
From 2014-2024, the Florida basketball program had just two NBA Draft picks (Tre Mann, Scottie Lewis). In 2025, after Todd Golden’s third year at UF, Florida had three NBA draft picks.
