Preview

Florida will be UNF’s third SEC opponent so far this season. The Ospreys have already suffered losses to Auburn and LSU in the early weeks of the 2016-17 season. UNF is coming off of a 2-2 performance in the Men Against Breast Cancer Classic last week.

Florida finished the AdvoCare Invitational with a 2-1 record, with wins over Seton Hall and Miami and its only loss coming to now No. 8 Gonzaga. After a strong performance in the tournament, the Gators came in as the No. 24 team in the country this week.

UNF’s offense comes in averaging 76.2 points per game and is led by Dallas Moore. Moore averages 19.1 points per game and is 19-for-43 (44.2%) from three-point range this season. Romelo Banks leads the team in rebounding, averaging 6.6. Chris Davenport has a team-best 27 assists, followed by Moore, who has 25 this season.

Last time the Gators and Ospreys met was last March in the first round of the NIT. Florida took the game 97-68 to end UNF’s season. Six different Gators scored double figures to give Florida one of its best offensive performances of the season. The Gators put up a season-high 16 three-pointers in the game, with seven different players hitting a shot from beyond the arc. Florida also had a season-high 23 assists in the win.

Florida has a perfect 5-0 all-time record against UNF, including 1-0 under Mike White with last years’ NIT win. The Gators are in good shape to remain undefeated against the Ospreys on Thursday.

A lifelong sports fan, Bailiegh Carlton knew from a young age that she wanted to work in sports in some capacity. Before transferring to the University of Florida to study journalism, she played softball at Gulf Coast State College. She then interned for Gator Country for three years as she worked toward her degree. After graduation, Bailiegh decided to explore other opportunities in the world of sports, but all roads led her right back here. In her time away, she and her husband welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world. When she isn't working, she can almost always be found snuggled up with sweet baby Ridley, Cody and her four fur babies.
