Back in the Top 25 for the first time in two years, the No. 24 Florida Gators (7-1) looked like they belonged there on Thursday night against the UNF Ospreys (3-6). The Gators had no problems taking a huge 91-60 win over the Ospreys. The game resembled last season’s NIT matchup against UNF, in which the Gators won 97-68 in their best offensive game of the season.
It was once again a great offensive night for Florida. The Gators were 31-for-53 (58.5) from the field on the night, including 9-for-19 (47.4%) from three-point range. A season-high 51 points off the bench and a spectacular night from beyond the arc carried the Gators to a win. Canyon Barry, Chris Chiozza, Justin Leon, and Devin Robinson all had double-digit scoring nights. Chiozza led Florida with 16 points and four rebounds.
The Gators never trailed the Ospreys in the game. After a close start to the game, Florida went on a 12-2 run to take a 15-point lead and had a 20-point lead of 45-25 at the half. The Gators came out sluggish in the first minutes of the second half and the Ospreys came within 12 points. That is the closest they would get. The Gators used a 24-3 run to run away with the game.
UNF was simply outmatched, with its only real offensive production coming from star point-guard Dallas Moore. Moore scored 31 of the Ospreys 60 points.
