Florida Gators senior forward Canyon Barry suffered a sprained ankle during practice on Monday. Barry has been in a protective walking boot since the injury Monday.
“He sprained it (Monday),” head coach Mike White said on Tuesday. “It’s swollen. Disappointing for him.”
White reported on Tuesday that Barry’s status was still very much in question when the Gators travel to Baton Rouge to take on the LSU Tigers (9-9, 1-6 SEC). White said Barry being able to play is “50-50.”
Barry is second on the team in scoring (12.4 ppg) and has played in all 19 contests this season.
The news was first reported by Jake Winderman of ESPN 850 Gainesville.

Barry has been a sparkplug for the Gators coming off of the bench this season. He’s scored double-digits in 13-of-19 games, including a season high 27 in a road win against Georgia. Barry was 7-13, including 5-8 from beyond the arc against the Bulldogs that afternoon. He’s led the Gators in scoring from off of the bench five times this season. He’s also the Gators’ leading free throw shooter at .867 (65-75).
The Gators have two big road tests this week first at LSU on Wednesday (9 pm – SEC Network) and then on the road against the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday (2 pm – ESPN).
