The 2025 MLB Draft is just a few days away with a number of Florida Gators awaiting the start of their professional journey. The draft kicks off on Sunday, July 13 at 6 p.m. ET with coverage of the first, second and third rounds on ESPN, MLB Network and MLB.com. The opening night of the Draft will reveal the first 105 picks of the first three rounds, compensatory rounds, competitive balance rounds and prospect promotion incentive selections. The first 43 selections will be broadcasted live on ESPN and MLB Network, while the other 62 will be simulcasted on MLB.com. The draft concludes on Monday, July 14 with rounds four through 20 starting at 11:30 a.m. ET on MLB.com.
Florida had four draft eligible sophomores and juniors that participated in the MLB Combine, including SS Colby Shelton, RHP Jake Clemente, catcher Brody Donay, and LHP Pierce Coppola. Infielder Bobby Boser is the only Gator that does not have collegiate eligibility remaining. As a reminder, just because you see a name on this list doesn’t necessarily mean they will test the MLB waters. Even if drafted, the player would have to come to a contract agreement with the team that selected them, and they will still have the option of coming back to school. However, based on Florida’s activity in the transfer portal, it’s safe to assume that most of these guys have their mind set on playing professionally.
The Gators have a number of highly touted high school prospects you should be keeping an eye on as well including shortstop Jordan Yost and RHP Aaron Watson.
