Florida extends baseball coach Kevin O’Sullivan through 2033

The Florida Gators have extended Head Coach Kevin O’Sullivan through the 2033 season, Gator Country confirmed on Monday. 2024 will mark the 17th season at Florida for O’Sullivan, who has brought eight NCAA College World Series appearances, seven SEC East Division Championships, and one National Championship to Gainesville during that span.

“It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the head baseball coach at the University of Florida, and I am excited to continue the challenge of bringing a National Championship back to Gainesville throughout the foreseeable future. I want to thank our administration for their commitment and support of UF baseball, specifically to athletic director Scott Stricklin and deputy athletic director Chip Howard for the opportunity to continue to lead this elite program. A special thank you to Gator Nation, as fan support of our team has reached new heights at Condron Family Ballpark. The future of baseball at Florida is incredibly bright, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to start and finish my head coaching career as a Gator,” O’Sullivan said in a statement given to Gator Country.

Florida has earned a national seed for the NCAA tournament 12 times in the 15 full seasons under O’Sullivan, more than any other school in that span. O’Sullivan’s 277 wins and .617 winning percentage lead the conference since O’Sullivan’s arrival in 2008. No college program has more CWS tris, Super Regionals hosted, top eight national seeds, and NCAA Tournament bids than the Florida Gators since 2008.

O’Sullivan’s former deal ran through 2029 while the new extension will last through October of 2033 and pay the head coach an average of $1.84 million per year. O’Sullivan’s new contract will make him the second highest-paid coach in the SEC behind Tim Corbin (Vanderbilt), according to Nick de la Torre of On3 Sports.

The all-time winningest coach in Florida program history has produced 105 MLB draft picks including a nation leading 13 first round picks since 2012. O’Sullivan has played a large part in turning the Florida baseball into one of the best college baseball programs in the country.
