Florida baseball lands commitment from Hawaii RHP Cooper Walls

Florida baseball added their 5th transfer on Tuesday evening when Hawaii RHP Cooper Walls committed to UF via social media. Walls was the 103rd ranked prospect in the transfer portal, according to 64 Analytics.

The 6’5, 215-pound right hander posted a 3.73 ERA across 60.1 innings pitched as a true freshman last season. Walls pitched to a 3-3 record across 15 appearances including 13 starts, striking out 45 batters while walking 15. Walls earned All-Big West freshman pitcher of the year in 2025.

Walls earned Big West Pitcher of the Week after seven shutout innings vs a ranked UC Santa Barbara squad, allowing just four hits and two walks in 26 batters faced.

While Walls’ batting average against of .292 is fairly high, the California native limited damage by allowing just seven doubles and two home runs across 60.1 innings pitched.

Walls addition marks the third pitcher added via the transfer portal this offseason, joining UCF’s Russell Sandefer and Notre Dame’s Ricky Reeth. Florida has placed a clear emphasis on replacing a pitching staff that has struggled in conference play over the last two seasons.

As a high school prospect, Walls ranked as the 328th overall player and the 99th RHP in the 2024 class. Pitching forĀ La Costa Canyon High School, Walls posted a 1.34 ERA with 51 strikeouts over 40.2 innings during his senior season, earningĀ All-CIF San Diego Section selection.

According to Jacob Rudner of Baseball America, Walls got up to 93 MPH with his fastball, averaging 89.5 MPH on the heater. Walls also throws a slider and a curveball. His 6’5 frame creates a unique angle with deceptive speed.

Walls will have three years of eligibility remaining.
