Woodrow had a “great” junior day visit with the Florida Gators

On Saturday, several instate prospects were on campus in Gainesville as the Florida Gators hosted their second junior day of the year.

Offensive lineman Rhys Woodrow (6-4, 280, Orlando, FL. Boone) was on campus and got the full tour of campus and met with the coaching staff including Billy Napier.

“The visit was great,” Woodrow said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “I got to tour the athletic facilities and the academic facilities. I also got to meet with the coaches and Coach Napier.”

Woodrow has been on campus before but this was the first in-depth visit he had with the staff and he liked things on campus outside of football.

“All of the coaches were very experienced, and they made me feel at home,” he said on his impressions of the coaching staff and what stood out to him. “I think seeing all of the academic opportunities really stood out to me on the visit.”

Offensive line coaches John DeCoster and Rob Sale spent a lot of time with Woodrow during the visit and explained to him where they see him playing at if he picks Florida.

“They told me how interested they’re in having me play center for them,” Woodrow said on the message from DeCoster and Sale. “They were very welcoming and said they love the aggression that I play with.”

Napier also spent time with Woodrow on Saturday as this was the first time for them to meet at length.

“He also sees me as a center,” he said on the message from Napier. “We talked about my high school team, and we got to spend time getting to know each other on a personal level.”

Earlier this month Woodrow picked up an offer from the Gators when DeCoster offered him and the lineman has been thinking about this moment for years.

“Since I was a freshman, I always saw getting the offer to play at Florida as a goal,” Woodrow said of his interest in Florida. “Now that I have the offer, it feels great to have it.”

Two other instate schools are in the mix for Woodrow as his recruitment is still in the early stages.

“FSU and Miami are showing a lot of interest as well,” he said on other schools recruiting him hard. “I’m not sure which schools I will be able to make it out to this spring, but I want to go to as many as I can.”
