Last week, several prospects visited Gainesville to watch the Florida Gators go through spring practice and that included several in-state prospects.
Receiver Brian Williams (6-4, 185, Lake Mary, FL. High) was on campus for the first time last Thursday, and he was able to see everything the Gators have to offer.
“It was a really good visit,” Williams said of visiting Florida last week. “I love the experience; the campus, and we had a very nice tour of the facilities. I went to the practice,e met with Coach [Billy] Gonzales and Coach [Billy] Napier and the whole staff. It was definitely a wonderful experience.”
Williams was impressed by several receivers during practice, and he believes the Gators as a whole are a team that looked sharp.
“It was very competitive,” he said of practice. “The coaches were into it, and the players were definitely getting after it. I liked it a lo,t and they have some very skilled guys, like you could tell these guys are polished and coached very well. It looks like a good group of guys.”
Receivers coach Billy Gonzales met with Williams after practice and explained to him where he likes the receiver at in college.
“He sees me definitely on the outside,” Williams of his talks with Gonzales. “He thinks I move very well and that I run very good routes. He could definitely see me going on the inside once I get more skilled in the offense.”
Head coach Billy Napier also met with Williams and explained to him why the Gators wanted to offer him a few weeks ago.
“Coach Napier just told me that after he watched my UA camp that he just had to offer me,” he said of his talks with Napier. “He was the one who called me and offered me, and he was just like you know he has seen NFL receivers, and he really thinks I could be one. He really likes my game and would love to coach me.”
After the visit, Williams says the Gators are on the rise in his recruitment, and he already has another visit set up to Gainesville.
“It definitely did,” Williams said on if this visit helped Florida. “My interest is growing after seeing the school, and I do like it. I have an official visit set up to Florida already for May 30th to June 1st.”
Several other schools are also in the mix for Williams, and two other official visits are set at the moment with more to come.
“At the moment, I have Vanderbilt and Syracuse set up,” he said on other visits. “Schools like West Virginia, Auburn, Notre Dame, and USF are all schools recruiting me hard.”
