Billy Napier has made it no secret that he wants to take back the state of Florida and keep as many of the top prospects in the state as he can, and he hosted several of those guys on campus this weekend.
Running back Treyaun Webb (6-1, 205, Jacksonville, FL. Trinity Christian) was on campus and he says this visit had some different things to offer than his unofficial visits.
“It was different, I mean I’ve been able to see everything but being able to interact with the other recruits,” Webb said on his official visit. “Actually, stay in a hotel, get everything paid for and get treated well. They treated me like I was a priority and I like that about the staff.”
Webb has said multiple times that the Gators are making him feel like a priority and he says it is the things that the staff does for him that make him feel that way.
“Basically, it’s the little stuff, the first night we were at Spurriers, and they brought all of the recruits up and I was the first one they brought up,” he said on how Florida is making him a priority. “Little stuff like that, my table being the first one to eat and the little things.”
Head coach Billy Napier and the rest of the coaching staff spent a lot of time with Webb this weekend and Napier is very involved in his recruitment.
“Really all of them, they are bouncing around a lot, Coach Napier a lot, he was very involved this weekend,” Webb said on the coaches he was with the most. “I’m thankful for that, I felt like a priority. It was really the whole staff. When you have the head coach very involved in your recruitment it makes you feel like a priority.”
Webb was scheduled to take three more official visits, but he says he canceled one of them and may make it back to Gainesville before he announces his decision on June 30th.
“I’m not going to Tennessee anymore so they’re off the list, I might come back here [Florida] that weekend,” he said on what’s next for him. “I’m going to Penn State next weekend, South Carolina the 24th.”
One of the biggest reasons that Webb continues to visit Gainesville is the feeling he gets while in town and the coaching staff continues to press for him to return for more visits.
“I would say, I just enjoy coming here, it’s down the street,” Webb said on why he likes visiting so much. “The coaching staff keeps inviting me back, they’re trying to keep me, they don’t want me to leave. They’re putting a fence up. I love coming back here, it feels like home.”
Heading into his decision date, Webb says three teams are all battling for his commitment.
“I would probably say, Florida, Penn State, and South Carolina are all neck and neck,” he said on where Florida stands with him. “Penn State has been involved in my recruitment for years and South Carolina is just genuine people, I love going up there.”
