UMass transfer Kofi Asare commits to the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators picked up a big commitment out of the transfer portal on Sunday after hosting visitors on campus this weekend.

Massachusetts defensive end Kofi Asare committed to Florida on Sunday just one day after taking an official visit to Gainesville.

“Gators,” Asare tweeted.”

Asare is a big pick-up for the Gators and fills a need for the coaching staff after Jack Pyburn and TJ Searcy hit the transfer portal.

Last season, Asare accounted for 30 tackles, three sacks and a recovered a fumble for the Minutmen on defense.

Asare now arrives in Gainesville with two years remaining and should figure into the rotation next year with George Gumbs and incoming freshman Jayden Woods also in the mix at the position.

The Gators have now added three transfers in the portal as Asare joins J. Michael Sturdivant and Tommy Doman who have both signed already with the Gators.
