Treyaun Webb details why he committed to the Florida Gators

It was a big Thursday for the Florida Gators as they added two commits to the Class of 2023, and it came from two guys who have been friends for years.

Running back Treyaun Webb (6-1, 205, Jacksonville, FL. Trinity Christian) committed to Florida just minutes after his good friend Marcus Stokes flipped to Florida from Penn State who was also a finalist for Webb.

“Me and Marcus [Stokes] we’ve been planning this for a minute,” Webb said on why he decided to commit on Thursday. “For me it was Florida for a good little while, everyone knows that but then I went up to Penn State and I’ve had a relationship with their staff since I was in the 8th grade. They made it tough on me and I went back and forth between Florida and Penn State.”

Penn State had some momentum with Webb following his official visit to Happy Valley, but Webb says he realized where home was for him, and he quickly called head coach Billy Napier.

“One day I just came to my senses, woke up and I was like Florida is where I want to be,” he said on when he ultimately picked Florida. “I called Coach Napier and told him that I was coming and then Marcus called me and said that Florida was thinking about offering him, so he kept me updated on that and it was kind of the cherry on top when we decided to do this.”

Not only can the Gators help Webb on the field but the running back believes that future opportunities off the field will also come from attending Florida.

“The academic part, I’m big on academics,” Webb said on a big reason why he picked Florida. “Me being from Jacksonville and the career field I’m going in which is engineering, Florida will help me after football with the opportunities.”

Napier and running backs coach Jabbar Juluke have explained to Webb just how he will be utilized once he gets to Gainesville.

“Coach Napier has studied my film, he has watched it like 100 times,” he said on how Florida sees him fitting in on offense. “He likes how I get north and south and that I’m one cut and go. They feel like that they can get the ball in my hands at running back and in the return game to make plays in the Swamp.”

Now that Webb has committed to Florida, he says his recruitment is shut down and he already has a list of guys he wants to recruit to join him in Gainesville.

“I’m done, this is it,” Webb said on his recruitment. “We [Marcus and Webb] plan to start recruiting other guys. We definitely want to get some linemen and I’m going to try my best to get Daquayvious Sorey. I’m working hard.”
