“They have a general”: Quarterback play a big factor in WR Joshua Moore’s recruitment

Four-star receiver Joshua Moore was one of three pass catchers from the 2025 class that Florida hosted for an official visit last weekend. Moore plays high school ball at West Broward in Pembroke Pines, Florida.

The 6’3, 205-pound receiver broke out during his sophomore year, combining for 1,034 yards on 50 receptions while hauling in 11 touchdowns. Moore finished his junior campaign with 50 catches for 835 yards and 9 TD’s, helping lead West Broward to Florida’s 4M playoffs.

Moore has over 30 D1 offers, but four schools are standing out in his recruitment: Miami, FSU, Georgia, and Florida.

“It went great, it went awesome,” Moore said on his visit to Florida. “Everything I was expecting, I liked what I seen. It feels like home.”

Florida’s WR coach Billy Gonzales has working hard on Moore’s recruitment since the Gators offered him on March 22nd, 2023. Moore spent time watching film with Gonzales during his visit.

“It was just awesome,” Moore said on spending time with Gonzales. “We went to the film room and we watched film with me and he coached me up and I picked up on it easy. I could see him coaching me up in the future.”

Gonzales has a heavy track record of sending big-bodied receivers like Moore to the NFL, including Tyrie Cleveland, Riley Cooper, Dallas Baker, and Cornelius Ingram among others. This is something that has sparked interest from Moore.

“That just gives me more confidence in him to be able to get me to the next level and develop me,” Moore said on Gonzales’ coaching history.”

Another factor in Moore’s recruitment is quarterback play. Moore spent a lot of time with freshman five-star QB DJ Lagway this weekend, who is making a noticeable impact on the 2025 class.

“They got a general, a quarterback. Everyone else ain’t got a quarterback,” Moore said. “They got great academic support, and they building something.”

Moore is set to visit Miami, Florida State, and Georgia in the coming weeks.

“Development, academic support, a quarterback,” Moore said on what is final decision will come down to.

Florida seemingly checked all three boxes this weekend.

Moore plans to commit before the start of the 2024 season.
