Over the weekend, the Florida Gators hosted seven official visitors on campus, including one of the top players in the country.
Offensive lineman Felix Ojo (6-6, 275, Mansfield, TX. Lake Ridge) was on campus, and he says the visit was better than even he expected.
“I say the weekend was great,” Ojo said of his visit to Florida. “I mean, it exceeded my expectations. It was nice talking to the players, hanging out with the players, and not only that,t but just seeing like the whole entire program in depth.”
Offensive line coaches John Decoster and Rob Sale broke down Ojo’s game with him and explained to him that he has a chance to play very early in Gainesville.
“That was most definitely a piece of the conversation,” he said on Florida needing tackles. “I mean, me coming in being able to compete for an early starting spot, and even if I don’t start, just being able to contribute early and getting into the games. They like my athleticism in the open space, my length, and me being able to use my length and my abilities to drive defenders.”
Ojo has started to build a solid relationship with the coaching staff and he admits their experience is something that stands out to him.
“It was nice, especially with all the NFL experience they have,” Ojo said on his conversations with the staff. “Just talking with them, talking how they run their offense, and just like seeing how their offense correlates to my skill sets.”
The offensive lineman has now visited Gainesville twice and Ojo says the Gators have a made a move in his recruitment.
“I say they fit very high on my list,” he said on where Florida stands in his top 8. “I don’t want to say any like top but like I say they fit very high on my list, and they most definitely have a chance in my recruiting process. If anyone thought they didn’t, they most definitely do.”
Ojo says hanging out with the players and hearing their opinions on the program is something that boosted the Gators this weekend.
“I really just like the relationship with the players,” Ojo said on what helped Florida this weekend. “Me talking to the players, me talking and seeing how they like the coaches. How they like the coaches act and how the coaches act behind closed doors and just seeing like the brotherhood that the players have and stuff like that. I say that was like the biggest part that really made me like, love this visit.”
