Ohio State linebacker Teradja Mitchell transfers to Florida

Billy Napier received good news on Monday night as Ohio State linebacker Teradja Mitchell announced his transfer to the Florida Gators.

The graduate transfer took to social media to announce his destination.

“100% committed” Mitchell posted on Twitter.

“Gator Nation, you will get my very all. Let’s work.”

Mitchell was originally a high four-star prospect from the 2018 recruiting class out of Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School in Virgnia Beach.

The Gators were one of Mitchell’s 27 high school offers.

During his five years with the Buckeyes, Mitchell played in 43 games, totaling 63 tackles (31 solo), seven TFL, and one pass deflection.

The 6-2, 239-pound middle linebacker made most of his noise in 2021, where he started eight games for Ohio State. He totaled 45 tackles (21 solo) and 4.5 TFL during that season.

An undisclosed injury kept Mitchell out most of the 2022 season. He played in four games in a special teams role and will use his redshirt season to return for one more year of eligibility. Mitchell logged just one defensive snap in 2022.

With the loss of Ventrell Miller and Amari Burney, and only one LB commit in the 2023 class, the Gators needed to hit the transfer portal for linebackers.

Mitchell will have the opportunity to compete for a starting spot on the Gators defense in 2023.
