The Florida Gators are building a special defensive class so far in 2024 and this past weekend they hosted several top defensive line targets on official visits.
Defensive lineman Nnamdi Ogboko (6-4, 335, Garner, NC. South Garner) was on campus and says the Gators made a move in his recruitment.
“This weekend was great,” Ogboko said on his official visit to Florida. “They definitely moved up to one of my top three, they’re definitely up there. Top three right now I’m looking at are South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia.”
While on campus, Ogboko was hosted by a fellow defensive lineman who had praise for the Gators coaching staff.
“My player host, Chris [McClellan] he told me that the program is changing,” he said on what he learned during the trip. “He said it’s way better and that things are changing.”
This weekend was also a chance for Ogboko to spend more time around the coaching staff including the Gators defensive line coaches.
“I really got to know Coach [Kali] James way more,” Ogboko said on spending more time with Coach Spencer and Coach James. “Coach Spencer too, they’re both funny guys.”
Saturday was a big day for the Gators as four prospects committed to Florida and Ogboko said he was tempted to join the party but says those guys that did commit were working on him hard.
“That was cool, a lot of them committed,” Ogboko said on seeing four guys commit on Saturday. “I talked to them after they committed, and they were trying to get me committed. It was fun.”
Next up for Ogboko will be an official visit to Georgia and after that he says he should be able to make a decision out of his top three.
“After Georgia, that will be one of my last officials,” he said on what’s next for him. “I was just trying to make my decision after all the visits I’ve been too and break everything to see what school fits me best.”
Ogboko is going into his decision and breaking down how his top three visits went and he’s looking at a few things in particular.
“I know Georgia is at the top and all that but I’m not saying they’re at the top one of my decision right now,” Ogboko said. “I’m looking for the connections with the coaches and players, that’s what matters to me. Development too.”
