Notable offseason weight changes

Florida football released their 2025 football roster on Tuesday afternoon. With the players weighing in on July 24th, Gator Country takes a look at some of the notable weight changes over the offseason.

All weights in pounds

DB Sharif Denson: 189-195

Junior defensive back Sharif Denson arrived in Gainesville at 180 pounds and has since put on 15 pounds.

“Sharif Denson had a great offseason, became more vocal as well,” Strength and Conditioning coach Tyler Miles said on Denson ahead of fall camp.

Denson is expected to compete with Aaron Gates for the starting STAR position.

DB Teddy Foster: 181-188

Foster put on seven pounds after his freshman campaign.

“Teddy Foster is getting more comfortable and he is a reliable guy,” defensive backs coach Deron Wilson said on Foster during spring camp.

DB Cormani McClain: 175-189

McClain has put together one of the more impressive body transformations this offseason, putting on 14 pounds from the 2024 season. Miles stated McClain is up 20 to 25 pounds since his arrival at UF.

“He’s done a good job. He really has. He’s still continuing to get stronger, put on the weight, put on muscle. He’s never going to be your big, vocal guy, but we don’t need him to be. He does his job,” Miles said on McClain.

McClain is expected to compete for a starting cornerback spot with Dijon Johnson.

DT Brien Taylor Jr.: 274-294

Brien Taylor Jr.’s 20 pound weight gain is a good sign for Florida’s depth at defensive tackle.

“He’s had a really good identity period offseason all the way up to now,” defensive coordinator Ron Roberts said on Taylor Jr. during spring camp. “He’s just, he’s growing every day. It’s exciting to see.”

DT Jamari Lyons: 304-318

Defensive tackle Jamari Lyons has been limited for a significant chunk of the offseason after suffering a broken ankle before the 2024 season. Lyons is back on the practice field and is expected to compete for a starting job along the defensive line.

“He’s really embraced coming back and working out and being on the field,” teammate Austin Barber said on Lyons. “It’s really cool to see. Like, I love Jamari Lyons. He’s an awesome person and a great player, and just to see him able to get back on the field and work and go out there. He’s a smart player, he’s a physical player, and I’m really excited for him to put some pads on and getting to play.”

LB Aaron Chiles: 234-244

Sophomore linebacker Aaron Chiles is up 10 pounds from his listed 2024 season weight. Chiles was one of the Gators that Tyler Miles named a standout this summer.

“Aaron Chiles is very impressive,” Miles said on Tuesday.

Redshirt senior Devon Manuel is down 12 pounds from his 2024 listed weight.

OL Fletcher Westphal: 321-342

Redshirt freshman Fletcher Westphal put on 21 pounds this offseason.

“He’s looking really good, you know, still young in some aspects, but, you know, he’s looks really well,” teammate Austin Barber said on Westphal ahead of fall camp. “I try to take him under my wing like Richard Gouraige did for me, you know. Me and him have a great relationship, and I think he looks really well out there.”

OL Damieon George Jr.: 345-365

Redshirt senior Damieon George Jr. is up 20 pounds from his 2024 listed weight. George Jr. is expected to start at right guard.

OL Kamryn Waites: 343-364

Sophomore DJ Lagway is up eight pounds entering his second season at UF.

“He’s a big boy. He looks good. He’s put in a lot of work,” Miles said on Lagway.

“Tre Wilson, he’s put on a lot of muscle. Looks really good. He’s gotten stronger and faster, more durable with that weight and that muscle,” Miles said on Wilson III on Tuesday.

WR DeBraun Hampton: 179-187

Redshirt freshman DeBraun Hampton is up eight pounds in his second year at UF. Hampton was recently named a scholarship player after starting his Gators career as a Preferred Walk On. Hampton is one of 12 players in the mix on punt return.
