Miller breaks down why the Florida Gators made his top four

The Florida Gators are pretty much done with the 2021 class as they’ve turned their attention to the 2022 class and the transfer portal.

On Saturday, the Gators made the top four for 2022 defensive tackle Christen Miller (6-5, 285, Ellenwood, GA. Cedar Grove) who plans to commit on April 4th as Florida joined Georgia Tech, Georgia, and Indiana in the top four.

“The effort they’ve been showing me the last month,” Miller said on why Florida made his top four. “They’ve been showing and telling me that they need me and they’ve made that clear. It was an obvious decision that they had to be in my top four.”

Two Gators assistant coaches and head coach Dan Mullen have been keeping in touch with Miller a lot and that has helped the Gators.

“Coach [David] Cooper and Coach [David] Turner hit me up a lot,” he said on the coaches from Florida who talk to him the most. “Coach Mullen he probably hits me up every week or a few times a week but Coach Coop and Coach Turner, they do a great job of keeping up with me on a daily basis.”

Miller has talked to the coaching staff about the role he will play in Florida’s defense if he chooses the Gators.

“Coach Coop and Coach Turner say I’m very athletic and can play both defensive end and defensive tackle,” Miller said on where Florida wants him to play. “If they’re in the 3-4, then I can come in play defensive end and if they’re in the 4-3, then I can play defensive tackle. They said I could fill the role that Zachary Carter feels for them because I’m athletic.”

Dan Mullen has also talked to Miller about the education in Gainesville and made it clear that the defensive tackle is wanted at Florida.

“Coach Mullen talks about life and the school,” he said on his talks with Mullen. “He shows me that he wants me to be a Gator and he’s always telling me to come join him, he’s always showing love.”

Miller grew up in Tampa, Florida so he knows the state of Florida well, plus the education in Gainesville has Miller’s attention.

“It’s my home state, I love Florida, I love the area around Gainesville and the vibe,” Miller said on what he likes about Florida. “They have my major, I’m starting to take education very important, I understand the difference between a four year decision and a 40 year decision now. Florida offers something off the field that will help carry me after football.”

Since the dead period will be going on until after Miller makes his decision, the defensive tackle says he plans to take some visits on his own soon.

“I want to take some visits with my family, I’m probably going to take those in March,” he said. “I’m going to go to some stadiums and the surrounding areas and just sight see a little bit. I want to do that with all my top four schools.”
