Louisville QB transfer Harrison Bailey commits to the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators finally have their back-up quarterback after they lost Deshawn Purdie to Wake Forest last week.

Louisville quarterback transfer Harrison Bailey committed to the Florida Gators on Monday just after he took an official visit to Gainesville this past weekend.

Florida sent quarterback analyst Ryan O’Hara to watch Bailey throw on Thursday and they were impressed with what they watched and immediately set up an official visit with the quarterback.

Bailey who has been at Tennessee, UNLV and Louisville will be entering his sixth season of college football and provides the Gators with some veteran presence to back-up quarterback DJ Lagway next season.

The Louisville transfer started the Cardinals’ bowl game and threw three touchdowns and for 164 yards and was named the MVP in the win over Washington.

Now that Bailey has committed, he joins Lagway and early enrollee Trammel Jones as scholarship quarterbacks on campus for the Gators heading into spring ball.

The Gators also have walk-ons Aidan Warner and Clay Millen on the roster but the Gators are hoping to have a scholarship to turn to if anything were to happen to Lagway and if Jones isn’t ready for the moment after he missed almost all of his senior year due to an injury.
