The Florida Gators picked up their second commitment of the week when a local prospect announced his commitment to the Gators.
Defensive lineman Kendall Jackson (6-4, 250, Gainesville, FL. Buchholz) committed to Florida over Arkansas, Kentucky, and Miami on Wednesday.
“For the next three to four years, I will be continuing my athletic and academics at the University of Florida,” Jackson said.
Jackson has long been a Gators lean and the coaching staff likes the Gainesville native at several positions.
“They’re recruiting me as a Jack now, so my coach got switched from Coach Spencer to Coach Peterson,” he said on the message from the staff. “It’s pretty much what I do now, standing up and stopping the run and getting after the passer. I drop back a little bit; I’ve shown I can do that in 7-on-7 and cover small guys.”
During his official visit in June, Jackson had the chance to sit down with defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong who explained just why Florida wants him.
“He was just letting me know how much they like me and that he’s already seen my film,” Jackson said on the message from Armstrong. “He likes my get off and he gave me a couple of things to think about during this recruiting process but overall, he said he liked how I cover with my size and still have the speed.”
Jackson is the 19th commitment of the Class of 2024 for Florida and joins defensive linemen Jamonta Waller, Amaris Williams, Nasir Johnson, and Michai Boireau to make up one of the best classes on the defensive front.
