The Florida Gators will kick off a huge month for recruiting this weekend when they play host to eight official visitors and two unofficial visitors.
Billy Napier and his coaching staff are expected to host over 20 prospects on official visits this month and a lot of other prospects will either take unofficial visits or be in town for camps.
GatorCountry brings you a preview of this weekend’s official visitors list as the month gets underway.
Offensive talent coming to town
Running back Treyaun Webb has been a frequent visitor to Gainesville and this weekend he will be on campus for his official visit. Webb plans to announce his college decision on June 30th and he will also visit Penn State, South Carolina, and Tennessee this month. The Gators are considered the leader for Webb as both he and his family have built a good connection with the new staff.
Receiver Aidan Mizell is a legacy for the Gators with both his parents running track at Florida. Mizell has been on campus twice under Napier and he really likes the plan that receivers coach Keary Colbert has for him. Mizell plans to take official visits to Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee this month and he wants to decide this summer. Florida is the team to beat heading into these visits.
The lone commit planning to be in town this weekend will be offensive lineman Bryce Lovett who committed to Florida in May. Lovett is solid with the Gators and has been on campus a lot during the spring. Lovett has been recruiting others to join him and he will have the chance to help with that this weekend.
Defensive talent to visit
Defensive lineman Kelby Collins will be on campus for the first time since Napier arrived in Gainesville. Defensive line coach Sean Spencer has been a key in Collins’ recruitment and this weekend will be big for them as they continue to build that relationship with each other. Collins is battling Alabama and Georgia for Collins.
Linebacker Raul Aguirre visited Gainesville this spring and picked up an offer during that visit and this weekend he will be back in town for an official visit. Alabama and Ohio State will also get official visits from Aguirre this summer.
Linebacker Grayson Howard is another guy that was on campus a lot this spring and the Jacksonville native is looking to make his commitment this summer. Howard has a great relationship with the coaching staff and linebackers coach Mike Peterson as he has known Peterson since his South Carolina days. South Carolina seems to be the team to beat but Florida and Georgia are battling for Howard.
Linebacker Jordan Hall named a top five of Florida, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina, and Notre Dame this week and he plans to take official visits to all of those schools. Hall has built a great relationship with Jay Bateman dating back to his days at North Carolina and that has help put the Gators in a good spot for the IMG prospect. Michigan State and Florida are the two schools talked about the most for Hall.
Safety Jordan Casteel is a guy that the Gators are in a good spot heading into the official visit after the safety took two visits to Gainesville this spring. Defensive coordinator Patrick Toney and defensive backs coach Corey Raymond visited him at his school this spring as well and have a good relationship with the safety. Florida heads into the visit sitting in good shape.
Unofficial visitors
Joining the eight official visitors this weekend will be two unofficial visitors who both plan to spend all weekend in Gainesville.
Defensive lineman Kayden McDonald was supposed to visit Gainesville for the spring game in April but wasn’t able to make it but now both he and his parents will be in town from Friday-Sunday. McDonald is a guy that defensive line coach Sean Spencer likes and has built a relationship with. Georgia is the early favorite for McDonald.
Defensive lineman Tomarrion Parker was last on campus for the spring game and came away speaking highly of the Gators. Defensive line coach Sean Spencer has done a great job of getting Florida back into the mix after Dan Mullen’s staff dropped the ball in Parker’s recruitment. Alabama, Ohio State, and Penn State are also squarely in the mix for Parker but this likely comes down to Alabama and Florida.
