This weekend the Florida Gators coaching staff hosted one of their top remaining linebackers on the board for his official visit.
Linebacker Kristopher Jones (6-2, 220, Fairfax, VA. High) was on campus with a lot of family and he enjoyed getting to be around some of the Gators’ current commits.
“Building a relationship with Adarius [Hayes] this weekend and just getting his point of view on why he committed to Florida,” Jones said of hanging with other commits. “Of course, he’s going to try and get me to come here but it was just great building a relationship with him.”
Jones has been to Gainesville several times already, but he says this weekend was about getting to some of the current players and recruits.
“Just getting to know the recruits better because they could be my future teammates,” he said on the highlight of his trip. “Getting their point of view on why they committed to Florida and that stuff.”
During the visit, Jones had the chance to talk with linebackers coach Jay Bateman and head coach Billy Napier who broke down how he will be used in Gainesville.
“Just amazing, just trying to see where I fit into the program,” Jones said on his meetings with Napier and Bateman. “Just seeing where they want to use me on defense. I fit great, I like how they move me around, I want to show my versatility at the next level. They’re going to allow that.”
Next up for Jones will be two more visits including one to one of the Gators’ biggest rivals next weekend.
“Right now, I have an unofficial visit to Michigan State, I’m going a couple of days before I go to Georgia for the official visit,” he said on what’s next for him. “
Heading into the Georgia visit, Jones says the Gators are in sitting in a good spot for him and he wants to have a decision in the coming months.
“Florida is most definitely in a good spot right now,” Jones said on where Florida sits for him now. “As of right it’s just them and Georgia. I just want to see how I fit into the program at Georgia. I want to be committed by August.”
