With the 2025 Under Armour All-American game underway this week, Gator Country spoke with 2026 QB commit Will Griffin to discuss his commitment status before he takes the field with six Gators’ signees in Orlando. The Tampa native stands at 6-3, 225 pounds and is a four-star prospect in the Class of 2026.
Griffin recently spent some time around the team while Florida was practicing for their bowl game at Griffin’s high school in Tampa.
“For the bowl game, they practiced at Jesuit. So I got to watch the end of a couple practices during exams. I talk to Coach Napier and Coach O’Hara frequently and obviously we just flipped some big guys from some big schools after finishing the season strong, which is something really big for the program,” Griffin said.
With 2025 signees’ Vernell Brown III, Dallas Wilson and Naeshaun Montgomery all participating in this year’s Under Armour All-American game, Griffin will get a head start with some of his future receivers this week. All four players will be on Team Icon.
“I helped recruit some of them and saw them at a lot of games,” Griffin said on his future teammates. “We’ve been through the thick and thin right, me and Vernell, when we committed it was supposed to be a great season. Everything was going good, but there’s highs and lows in every season and we finished out strong and got a lot of commits and flips. So, we finished out the season strong. It’s going to be great that they are all staying home.”
When asked about his expectations of the team prior to the season, Griffin wasn’t surprised about Florida’s late season surge beating two ranked teams in back-to-back weeks.
“Coach Napier is awesome, and he pours everything he can into those guys,” Griffin said. “They all believed in him from the beginning, I did when I committed, I said this is where I want to be.”
It’s clear that Will Griffin was born a Gator and it seems it will stay that way as of right now. The coaching staff is just the cherry on top for the Jesuit quarterback.
“Man, I just love Coach Napier and Coach O’Hara. They are just great and it’s a dream school of mine, a lot of my family members went there. I’ve been to numerous games, and I just love the atmosphere and I love the swamp, especially night games, and I love the fans,” Griffin said. “You know, I really love them, and they really love me so it was perfect. I’m a Gator and that how it’s going to be.”
When asked if he would take any more visits in the future, Griffin was quick to answer and was straight to the point.
“No, I’m a Gator,” Griffin said.
The four-star quarterback is currently ranked as the No. 151 overall prospect and No. 11 quarterback in the country, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. In three seasons played (freshman-junior), Griffin totaled 7,270 passing yards for 76 touchdowns. The Jesuit quarterback also recorded 2,495 passing yards for 30 touchdowns on Varsity as a 7th and 8th grader. Griffin currently has a total of 25 offers but looks to remain locked in with the Gators until signing day rolls around this time next year.
