Billy Napier has hired Benedick Hyppolite as a quality control coach who will work with the running backs.
Hyppolite had been serving as a graduate assistant at Miami since 2020, and he had been retained by new Hurricanes coach Mario Cristobal.
He’ll be filling the role on Florida’s staff that became vacant a few weeks ago when Corey Bell left to become the cornerbacks coach and recruiting coordinator at Florida International.
Prior to Miami, Hyppolite spent a year at Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens as the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach.
Hyppolite is best known for his time coaching at some of the most talent-rich high schools in South Florida, a background that should prove useful for the Gators in recruiting.
As the head coach at Carol City High School from 2017-18, the Chiefs went 19-8. He was also the head coach at Hallandale High School in 2016.
He played for Tim Harris, an accomplished coach and the father of former UF quarterback Treon Harris, at Booker T. Washington Senior High School. He later worked for Harris at both Booker T. Washington and at Florida Memorial.
Hyppolite also served as an assistant coach at Edison Senior High in Miami.
