Friday Night Frenzy recap week 9: Florida Gators recruiting

It’s that time of the year again where the Friday Night Lights are bright and prospects across the country are trying to shine on the field to impress college coaches and win a state championship ring before heading to college.

Like the past years, Gator Country is going to do a preview every Thursday for all of the Florida Gators recruiting commits and on Monday we will do a full recap including stats and notes from the past week’s games.

This year we are going to also to name a player of the week from the commits’ games.

This week was the start of the season for some prospects while others are still waiting to start the season.

 

Week 9 recap

Player of the week: Eugene Wilson- Wilson had 9 catches for 243 yards and four touchdowns in the win.

2023 commits

Safety Jordan Castell (6-2, 195, Winter Garden, FL. West Orange)

Result: West Orange defeated Dr. Phillips 19-17 on Friday night.

Game Stats: Castell had eight tackles in the win.

Notes: Castell is 3-3 on the year.

 

Defensive lineman Kelby Collins (6-5, 280, Gardendale, AL. High)

Result: Gardendale defeated Mountain Brook 29-28 on Friday.

Game Stats: Collins had 10 tackles, and three sacks in the win.

Notes: Gardendale is 7-2 on the year.

 

 Defensive back Sharif Denson (5-11, 170, Jacksonville, FL. Bartram Trail)

Result: Bartram Trail defeated Buchholz on Friday.

Game Stats: Denson had two PBU’s and also held Jaren Hamilton to zero catches on the night.

Notes: Bartram Trail is 8-0 on the year.

Result: Trinity Christian lost to LaGrange 28-10

Game Stats: Gates is out for the year with a torn ACL.

Andrew Spivey
Andrew always knew he wanted to be involved with sports in some capacity. He began by coaching high school football for six years before deciding to pursue a career in journalism. While coaching, he was a part of two state semifinal teams in the state of Alabama. Given his past coaching experience, he figured covering recruiting would be a perfect fit.
