Friday Night Frenzy Preview Week 11: Florida Gators recruiting

It’s that time of the year again where the Friday Night Lights are bright and prospects across the country are starting the high school football season.

Like the past years Gator Country is going to do a preview every Thursday for all of the Florida Gators commits and on Monday we will do a full recap including stats and notes from the past weeks’ games.

This year we are going to also highlight the key players to watch in the game that aren’t Florida Gators commits but rather targets or just big names in the game.

Week 11 preview

2025 commits

Receiver Vernell Brown III (5-11, 170, Orlando, FL. Jones)

Matchup: Jones (8-0) travels to take on Ocoee on Friday.

Yearly Stats: Brown has 57 catches for 852 yards and six touchdowns on the year.

Running back Waltez Clark (6-1, 194, Tampa, FL. Plant)

Matchup: Plant (5-3) plays host to Steinbrenner on Friday night.

Yearly Stats: Clark has 55 carries for 367 yards rushing and four touchdowns on the year. Clark has also added 232 yards receiving and three more touchdowns.

Matchup: Bridgton Academy (5-1) plays host to Naval Academy Prep School on Saturday.

Running back Chad Gasper (5-10, 200, Fulshear, TX. Jordan)

Matchup: Katy Jordan (8-1) has a bye week this week.

Yearly Stats: Gasper has one carry for 38 yards on the year.

Notes: Jordan will start the playoffs next week.

 

Tight end Tae’shaun Gelsey (6-4, 215, Jacksonville, FL. Riverside)

Matchup: Riverside (5-5) has a bye week before starting the playoffs next week.

Yearly Stats: Gelsey has 831 yards receiving and 13 touchdowns on the year.

Defensive back Ben Hanks Jr. (6-1, 170, Miami, FL. Booker T Washington)

Matchup: Booker T. Washington (5-3) has a bye week.

Yearly Stats: Hanks has 22 tackles on the year and has also added four interceptions. Hanks has also added three receiving touchdowns on the year.

Yearly Stats: McCloud has 48 tackles, 16 tackles for a loss, 3.5 sacks and one interception that returned for a touchdown.

Andrew Spivey
Andrew always knew he wanted to be involved with sports in some capacity. He began by coaching high school football for six years before deciding to pursue a career in journalism. While coaching, he was a part of two state semifinal teams in the state of Alabama. Given his past coaching experience, he figured covering recruiting would be a perfect fit. He began his career as an intern for Rivals.com, covering University of Florida football recruiting.
