Florida vs Texas A&M in weather delay after first quarter

Florida vs Texas A&M is currently in a weather delay after lighting struck within eight miles of the stadium. The game will resume when no lighting has been detected for 30 minutes.

The Gators trail 10-0 after the first quarter and have managed just eight yards of offense across six plays. Texas A&M has put together two long drives, eating up nearly 12 minutes of clock.

Florida won the toss and deferred to the second half. Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed got the start as the Aggies’ starting quarterback, Conner Weigman, is dealing with a shoulder injury on his throwing arm.

On the opening drive of the game, Florida’s defense allowed a 2nd and 21, 3rd and 12, and a 3rd and 10 conversion, allowing the Aggies to march down the field and score on a 31-yard field goal.

Florida’s opening drive of the game came to a halt when Graham Mertz couldn’t connect with a wide-open Marcus Burke on a 3rd and 13. The throw was high, but a pass Burke is capable of coming down with.

The Aggies started their second drive of the game on the eight-yard line after a line drive punt from Jeremy Crawshaw. Texas A&M running back Le’Veon Moss broke free for 27 yards on an inside run that looked to be going nowhere. Florida would allow another 3rd and long conversion before a defensive holding on 4th and five kept the Aggies drive rolling.

Marcel Reed would later find a wide-open tight end for a 29-yard touchdown pass to make it 10-0.

True freshman QB DJ Lagway entered the game right before the weather delay.

When play resumes, Florida will have the ball on the UF’s 29-yard line on 2nd and 12.
