After having a huge recruiting week, landing six total commits in the span of just six days, the Gators added two more commits on Monday afternoon, giving them a total of 10 commits in the month of June. Florida has been an attractive landing spot for multiple prospects across the country, including Tennessee commit and four-star tight end Carson Sneed.
“It was good to meet everybody, it’s been like two years since I’ve been down here, so it was good to catch up and meet some new people,” Sneed said on the highlight of his visit.
Offensive Coordinator Russ Callaway went right back to recruiting the Tennessee native when Sneed made the decision to start visiting schools again after previously shutting down all visits entirely.
“It was good, I kind of told him when I committed that I was done taking visits, but he saw us visiting around again so he hopped back on me a couple months ago and it’s been a good relationship ever since,” Sneed said. “I was just happy to be down.”
It was clear that Tennessee didn’t want Sneed in Gainesville this past weekend, but that wasn’t going to stop the four-star from making sure he was making the right decision.
“They tried to talk me out of it, but I told them I just gotta do what I gotta do,” Sneed said. “That’s just what it is.”
Having clarity on his decision is what Sneed is looking for the most in his recruitment and he plans to have his mind entirely made up sooner rather than later.
“I mean I’m obviously still committed; I’m taking these visits to get a sense of clarity. That’s why I’m taking these visits; making sure I make the right decision,” Sneed said on why he’s taking other visits. “This weekend definitely moved them really high up my list for sure. I just have to take my Tennessee visit next weekend and I’ll see how that goes. I’ll probably make my mind up before the summer though.”
With a decision coming shortly after his final official visit to Tennessee this upcoming weekend, Sneed will weigh out his options and make a final decision.
“After my last OV I’m going to go home, think about all the weekends, think about the pro’s and con’s and make a decision based off that,” Sneed said on how he will make his decision.
The four-star tight end out of Nashville, Tennessee is down to Florida, North Carolina, Ole Miss and Tennessee in no order. Standing at 6-6, the plan for Russ Callaway and the Gators would be to use Sneed everywhere along the offense. As a junior at Donelson Christian Academy, the four-star racked up 409 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 12.4 yards a catch. If Russ Callaway can continue making a big push, I think the Gators could have a true shot at flipping the Tennessee native here in the next week or so.
