The Florida Gators hosted their first junior day of the year on Saturday where over 75 kids were on campus. 2026 tight end Kaiden Prothro made his second trip to Gainesville after visiting for the LSU game on November 16th.
“Really just getting around, see what it’s like to be a player here, just walking around with the coaches and spending time talking with some of the players, just talking to coach Napier, just getting around the facilities and just being around. It was awesome today,” Prothro said on his second trip to UF.
Prothro said the highlight of his trip was seeing the player development on and off the field, as well as learning about Florida’s Gator Made program, which is a ‘holistic player-focused and purpose-driven initiative that develops football scholar-athletes during their time at UF and beyond.’
“The player development here and Gator Made, it was awesome, awesome just seeing how everything’s organized here and how they do things,” Prothro said on the highlight of his trip.
Florida is one of four SEC schools at the top of the board for Prothro, who plans to take official visits to Auburn, Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. The Gators have made Prothro a priority.
“Just telling me to enjoy it while I can. See the things here, not necessarily comparing it, but you know just taking it all in and seeing what it’s like to be a Gator, just showing me that I’m a top priority,” Prothro said.
“Florida is recruiting me pretty hard right now,” Prothro added. “Florida, they’re building, I feel like they’re building something special here. The next couple of years, the program’s gonna be top. They have some guys coming in just doing their things.”
Prothro also mentioned that a good quarterback is a priority for him. The composite five star spent some time talking with 2026 QB commit Will Griffin this weekend.
“That’s obviously a big role in a school,” Prothro said on playing with a good quarterback. “I wouldn’t want to go to a school that doesn’t have a good quarterback, because I need to know who’s getting me the ball.”
Prothro’s second trip to Gainesville provided him with an opportunity to build on his relationship with Co-offensive coordinator Russ Callaway and head coach Billy Napier.
“Florida is up there for me,” Prothro told Gator Country. “Just seeing how they run things around here, just see how they coach and how the players are just set for life.”
Prothro is set to visit Auburn on January 25th.
