The Florida Gators took their turn at SEC Media Days on Wednesday afternoon in Nashville, Tennessee as Billy Napier, Kingsley Eguakun, Jason Marshall, and Ricky Pearsall all attended the event.
The players hit on several different topics during media days as several questions remain about the Gators heading into the 2023 football season.
GatorCountry is live in Nashville and brings you a notebook on what Eguakun, Marshall and Pearsall had to say during their time at Media Days.
Jason Marshall
- Marshall says the biggest difference from last year to this year is that everyone has bought into the program and it’s going to be a big change.
- Shocking the world is something that Marshall is looking forward to doing this year.
- One of the differences Marshall has noticed with Austin Armstrong is the energy he brings and how contagious it is.
- Having all of the resources in one spot is something Marshall likes about the new facility and how it’s within walking distance of things.
Kingsley Eguakun
- Eguakun was asked about the UF/UGA game and he says he likes the game being in Jacksonville because he’s from there but he also says road games are fun for the team.
- Eguakun believes that Napier has a plan in place for the offense this year and that they have the firepower to execute the plan.
- Winning the SEC East and the Rimington award are two goals for Eguakun heading into the season. He says his main goal is to win games.
- The atmosphere in the Swamp is something Eguakun likes about the Swamp as well the Gator Walk.
- Eguakun also mentions that everyone is bought in with Napier this year and guys aren’t thinking about anywhere else but Florida.
Ricky Pearsall
- Pearsall mentions that all coaches have a different style of coaching, but he mentions how Billy Gonzales is about toughness but also wants to build relationships off the field with his guy.
- The Kentucky game is one that Pearsall says the team is looking at after losing to the Wildcats the last two seasons.
- Pearsall believes that things are turning around at Florida under Napier and that Napier is the guy to turn the program around because of his plan for the team.
- Having a starting quarterback named soon is something that doesn’t matter to Pearsall as he says he has great chemistry with all of the guys and Napier could name the starter the day before the Utah game and things would be ok.
- Pearsall says he has seen a lot out of Graham Mertz this offseason and he says he’s always working on his game.
