Florida Gators official visitors preview June 13th weekend

The Florida Gators will host official visitors on campus once again this weekend as they close out the June portion of official visits.

Billy Napier and his staff have been on a hot streak in recruiting, and they hope that continues this weekend with several big targets expected in town.

GatorCountry brings you a preview of this weekend’s official visitors for the Gators as well as several unofficial visitors that are expected in town.

Offensive targets expected in town

Quarterback commit Will Griffin will be in town for his official visit. Griffin has been solid with his commitment to Florida since he committed to the Gators last year. Griffin will spend this weekend recruiting others to join him in the class.

Receiver Marquez Daniel will make the trip from Alabama this weekend after he visited Auburn last weekend. Daniel has said Florida and Auburn are his top two schools and the Gators are hoping to making a move in his recruitment this weekend. Daniel is very close with Chad Lucas on the Gators staff.

Receiver Davian Groce will be in town this weekend for the first time as he has talked to the staff a lot already. Groce has Baylor and Texas A&M as schools to watch in his recruitment as he makes the trip from Texas.

Tight end Kaiden Prothro is one of the top tight ends in the country and Florida is battling Alabama and Georgia for him, but the Gators have been on Prothro for a long time. This weekend is big for the Gators as they try and catch those two schools.

Tennessee tight end commit Carson Sneed has made several trips to town already and despite his commitment to the Vols, Sneed has a lot of interest in the Gators. Florida has already picked up one tight end and are looking to add another one but several names are in the mix for that spot.

Alabama offensive line commit Chris Booker visited Florida in the spring and raved about his visit but the Crimson Tide commit is still solid with Alabama. Florida needs a big visit this weekend to get the momentum in its corner.

Offensive lineman Tyler Chukuyem will be on campus for the first time this weekend as he looks to get familiar with the campus but he has already built a strong relationship with the coaching staff. Chukuyem released a top four of Cincinnati, Florida, Florida State, and Ole Miss ahead of the visit.

Offensive lineman Desmond Green will be on campus for the third time this year as he makes the trip from South Carolina. Georgia is the favorite for Green but Florida hopes to make a move in his recruitment this weekend.

Offensive lineman Claude Mpouma visited Gainesville once this spring and will be making the trip down from Illinois on Friday. Mpouma has Auburn, Nebraska, and Notre Dame also in the mix for him.

Defensive targets expected in town

Defensive lineman Kendall Gurvil has been a frequent visitor in Gainesville and his relationship with Gerald Chatman is strong. Florida is battling Georgia and Texas for him and the Longhorns feel like they’re the top school but Florida will give its best shot this weekend for him.

Defensive end Trenton Henderson will make the trip over from Pensacola this weekend as Florida and LSU are battling for him. The Gators need a guy like Henderson in the class as a pass rusher.

Defensive lineman James Johnson is expected to make the trip up from Miami this weekend as Florida is hoping to gain ground with the lineman. Georgia and Miami are the leaders here but Florida is expected to turn up the heat this weekend with Johnson.

Linebacker Malik Morris has long been favoring Florida and the Gators would love to wrap up this recruitment this weekend, but the Lakeland native hasn’t set a decision date at this time. Morris is a key piece for the Gators.

Ole Miss linebacker commit Izayia Williams will visit Florida for the first time since he decommitted from the Gators. Williams is someone who has changed his mind frequently in the past, so the Gators are continuing to stay in contact with the linebacker.

Unofficial visitors expected in town

Running back Carsyn Baker visited Florida for an unofficial visit two weeks ago, and he will be back on campus on Friday. Florida is trending hard for Baker right now as Florida State continues to recruit the Georgia native.

Offensive line commit G’Nivre Carr will be back on campus for the first time since he committed two weeks ago. Carr will make the short drive up from IMG.

Defensive lineman Ja’Reylan McCoy cancelled his official visit to Texas in order to visit Gainesville this weekend. McCoy is trending towards Florida right now and the Gators are hoping to lock this one down this weekend.

Defensive back commit Kaiden Hall arrived on campus on Thursday and will stay through Saturday as he helps the staff recruit others.
