DL Jamir Perez commits to the Florida Gators over Ohio State

The Florida Gators picked up their second commitment of the Class of 2026 on Sunday after official visits were over.

Defensive lineman Jamir Perez (6-4, 360, Cleveland, OH. Glenville) committed to Florida over Ohio State and others on Sunday after taking an official visit to Florida.

“I always dreamed of myself playing in the SEC,” Perez said. “I feel like I have an SEC type of body, I’m an SEC type of player so therefore Florida just made it home. You know, Gators boys stay hot.”

Perez says he told the coaching staff and players on Saturday night that he was going to make a commitment.

“I told Coach David [Reese] and then I told a couple of the players last night [Saturday],” he said. “I told coach, he was hyped about it, he was ready for it. I was trying to put in the work.”

During the official visit, Perez had the chance to hang out with the players and a bond was created during that time.

“I had a chance to actually interact with Michai [ Boireau],” Perez said on hanging out with the players. “That’s who I was with, you know talking to him, it was a real good experience. The whole defensive line room I was with talking to them. It’s just the whole team that I was with. I feel like they’re going to be my older brothers, my older mentors.”

Perez had several official visits planned this summer but after his commitment, he says that he’s done with visits to other schools.

“For me, it’s shut down, you know I’m committed,” he said.
