Dj Lagway makes positive impact on Antwann Hill’s recruitment during OV

Headlining Florida’s official visitor list this past weekend was 2025 four-star QB Antwann Hill out of Houston Country High School in Warner Robins Georgia. The Gators just received a commitment from 2026 four-star QB Will Griffin, but they still want to add a QB in the 2025 class.

Florida gained a lot of ground on the top 175 prospect following his first official visit to Gainesville.

“After this visit they’re very high,” Hill said on his visit. “I mean it really just showed what Florida has to offer and just my opportunity at Florida.”

DJ Lagway makes an impact

The highlight of Hill’s visit was spending time with freshman QB DJ Lagway, who was the top overall QB in the 2024 class.

“Most definitely being with him [Lagway],” Hill said on the highlight of the weekend. “Just getting all of the wisdom from him. Hanging out with him and the guys, hanging out with him and the team. That was all just fun.”

“His message to me was just ‘keep working, weigh out all my options, take my time throughout these next couple months’,” Hill said. “Of course he wants me to come to Florida, learn by him, like he said in the car last night, he knows they are recruiting me to come take my spot, so I’m coming to take your spot, and he knows that, but at the end of the day it’s all brotherly love. At the end of the day, I love DJ and he loves me.”

Down to two schools

Hill is down to Memphis and Florida. The 6’5, 215-pound quarterback is taking a visit to Memphis on June 7th, but that will be his last visit.

“Just coach [Ryan] Silverfield and Coach [Tim] Cramsey,” he said of what he likes about Memphis. “The opportunity that’s presented. Getting to play early, and trying to develop early, and get ready for the league. That really stands out with Memphis.”

Hill recently said that Memphis was recruiting him harder than Florida. That changed in recent weeks as the Gators are looking to find their quarterback for the 2025 class.

“Florida has definitely picked it up,” Hill said on the Gators’ interest level. “After this visit I feel like they going to keep that steady pulse going.”

Commitment date

Hill’s plan is to commit on his birthday, July 13th. His final decision will come down to who can develop him the most and get him to the National Football League.

“Quarterback development,” Hill said. “Do it feel like I’m at home?”

Florida laid out that developmental plan for Hill this weekend.

“They did good,” Hill said. “Asking DJ, just being around him the whole time, just getting so much knowledge from him about this Florida program and just how was the transition over from high school to Florida.”

“They put out a plan for me. They laid out how it would look these next couple years if I come to Florida. They laid it out pretty good…me and my pops agreed with the plan that we have to go home and talk more about it and just really try to see at the end of the day what’s the best decision for me.”

Hill posted a 9-3 record during his junior campaign in 2023, leading Houston County to second round of Georgia’s AAAAAA playoffs. He completed 203 of 312 passes (65.1%) for 2,732 yards with 31 TD and 5 INT while adding three rushing touchdowns.
