Dear is “high” on the Gators and scheduled an OV with Florida

The last two days, the Florida Gators have played to host to one of the top running backs in the country who was able to watch spring practice on Saturday.

“Running back Akylin Dear (6-1, 200, Quitman, MS. High) was on campus and enjoyed the visit and set up an official visit to get back to Gainesville.

“It was great, I just scheduled an OV [official visit],” Dear said of how his visit to Florida went. “It will be June 5th-7th. I also have one scheduled to Texas A&M for [June] 21st.”

Running backs coach Jabaar Juluke and head coach Billy Napier spent a lot of time with Dear and explained how he would fit into the program.

“Coach Juluke, his energy,” he said on what he likes about Florida. “Coach Napier, how he talked about me and kept it real with me. When I was watching practice, I could see myself doing that. How there play style is, my play style is just like that. I can catch the ball out of the backfield.”

Dear also watched the running backs closely and Napier explained to him why he was needed in the Class of 2025.

“Tough, I love it,” Dear said on the play off the running backs. “Coach Napier was telling me that Trell [Montrell Johnson] was going to the draft this year and Cam Carroll will be leaving so they need another back in this class.”

The running back says he’s letting the process play out and isn’t in a hurry to narrow things down again but the Gators did make his last cut.

“They’re high,” he said on where Florida stands for him. “I just dropped my top schools, and they made it.”
