Cooper likes the “big family” feel around the Florida Gators

This past weekend, the Florida Gators had a lot of instate prospects on campus for junior day.

Syracuse offensive line commit Javeion Cooper (6-4, 295, Melbourne, FL. Central Catholic) was on campus and enjoyed seeing everything Florida has to offer, both on and off the field.

“The visit this weekend was I say a great one,” Cooper said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “A great visit, a great experience. We got a tour of the campus, went in the athletic part of the school and stuff like that. I got to talk to the coaches and the head coach.”

The off-the-field things at Florida and how important the coaching staff puts on being a student-athlete is important to Cooper and his family.

“What stood out to me was the education part,” he said on what stood out to him. “They stood out to my granddad too. Florida is big on the education part and big on family. They showed me that they’re a big family and things like that. They really care about you and like want you to succeed.”

Offensive line coach John Decoster is the main contact for Cooper and he broke down where the lineman could play at in Gainesville during the visit.

“They said depending on how I develop but as for right now, I’ll be playing guard,” Cooper said on where Florida wants him to play. “They said when they watched my film that I could play some tackle too and when I talked with Coach Decoster he gave me a couple of pointers to work on. He told me to work on my pass set.”

Cooper met the rest of the coaching staff on Saturday including head coach Billy Napier and he says he has a good relationship with the coaching staff.

“They’re cool, actually cool,” he said on his impressions of the coach. “Coach D [Decoster], me and him were cracking jokes and things like that. I feel like me and him are good, first impressions are everything and I feel like the bond we have right now is a good bond.”

The Syracuse commit admits that the Gators will always have a shot with him because of his family.

“Florida will always be in my top three,” Cooper said on where Florida stands with him. “My family loves Florida and you know I’ve been raised up on Florida. They’ve always been my number two behind Syracuse.
