The Florida Gators hosted their first junior day of the new year, and several top 2024 prospects were on campus on Saturday.
2024 Running back Anthony Carrie (6-0, 185, Tampa, FL. Carrollwood Day) was on campus and enjoyed the junior day visit.
“The visit was cool,” Carrie said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “It was a regular visit, we got to tour the facilities, eat lunch, do a photoshoot and have a meeting with the coaches.”
While on campus, Carrie had the chance to meet with several coaches and staff members and they all had a message to him about his ability off the field.
“I met with Coach [Billy] Napier, Coach [Jabbar] Juluke, and Coach Williams,” he said on the coaches he met with on Sunday. “They all explained I’m a guy they really want, and they love how versatile I am and my high character and high IQ.”
Running backs coach Jabbar Juluke met with Carrie for a good bit of time on Saturday and explained why he’s a good fit for the Gators.
“He told me I would be used to create mismatches with linebackers,” Carrie said on the message from Juluke. “I would add some versatility to the room and I’m a back that can do it all so they love that about me.”
Head coach Billy Napier also met with Carrie on the visit and explained that the Gators have seen everything they need to see from the running back.
“It went well, he reiterated the same thing Juluke said,” he said on the meeting with Napier. “They’ve seen me work so many times there’s no question about my ability to do anything. They seen me in camp do 1 on 1’s and they seen my film where I’m mostly running the ball. They also have spoken with me and been around me enough to know I’m a young man with extremely good character as well as IQ after meeting with Juluke a while back and him testing my football IQ.”
After the visit, Carrie says the Florida Gators helped their chances with him but several other schools are still in hot pursuit of the running back.
“I like the family feel, this visit helped Florida,” Carrie said of his interest in Florida. “They’re in my top eight, the rest of the schools in my top 12 are also recruiting me heavily.”
