Injury report and notes from Wednesday’s press conference

Florida Gators head coach Jim McElwain took the podium on Monday to discuss practice, preparation and injuries ahead of Saturday’s game against Georgia.

Here’s the updated injury list:
• Josh Hammond is still highly questionable after injuring his back during the bye week.
• Tyrie Cleveland is probable after suffering a high-ankle sprain against Vanderbilt.
• Kadarius Toney is probable after injuring his shoulder against LSU.
• Elijah Conliffe will be back this week.
• Jeremiah Moon has been practicing and will play on Saturday.
• Jabari Zuniga should be ready to go this weekend after missing the Texas A&M game with an ankle injury.
• CJ McWilliams is a game-time decision after injuring his hamstring in practice.
• Jordan Sherit’s surgery went well but will miss the rest of the season.
• Nick Washington is out with a shoulder injury.

Following a bye week that allowed injured players to really get the rest they need, it appears that the Gators will bring back key offensive contributors in Tyrie Cleveland and Kadarius Toney for this weekend’s game against Georgia.

Both players are extremely vital to the Gator’s offense. Tyrie Cleveland leads the Gators in receiving with 15 catches for 326 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Toney’s effectiveness out of the wildcat was key before his injury. The extremely versatile true freshman has done it all for the Gators this season. Toney has 12 carries times 118 yards and 2 TD’s, 11 receptions for 107 yards, and has a 50-yard completion that he threw to Tyrie Cleveland against Kentucky.

Following Jordan Sherit’s injury, a depleted defensive line will have both Jabari Zuniga and Elijah Conliffe on Saturday. An absolute animal off the edge, Zuniga has 18 tackles on the season, with 5.5 of those coming as a tackle for loss. He also has 2.5 sacks to go along with those numbers. Conliffe has also been big for the Gators’ run defense, clogging up running lanes in the interior line.
