D.J. Humphries became the second Florida Gators player selected in the 2015 NFL Draft when the Arizona Cardinals selected him with the 24th overall pick in the first round.
Humphries came to Gainesville as the No. 2 rated player in the country and the No. 1 overall offensive lineman. Humphries got into the mix early, appearing in all 12 games as a freshman including three starts.
Following his promising freshman season, Humphries career was derailed by injury. As a sophomore Humphries only played in seven games, making six starts, before a knee injury ended his season. As a junior, Humphries was sidelined for two games with another injury.
Standing at 6-5, 308 pounds, Humphries has all of the measurables that NFL teams look for in a franchise left tackle. Humphries never cracked the 300-pound mark at Florida but was able to get there and stay there with a 5,000-calorie a day diet since he declared for the draft.
Humphries’ tape at Florida is a mixed bag but if he can keep his weight up he has all the potential to become a legitimate starter in the NFL for the Panthers.
I believe that the Arizona Football team are the Cardinals and not the Panthers… I am just happy that we have a Gator in the Desert!
