Don’t call it a competition.
There are a lot of words that can be used to describe the Florida Gators current quarterback “situation”:
Long
Uncertain
Open
Maybe even, slightly tinged with turmoil?
At least that’s how fans have filled the endless fodder.
The two guys at the center of this battle though are keeping it much more light and focused not on the starting position, but on the actual position itself.
“Right now, it’s just learning the offense. Being vocal,” said redshirt Freshman Will Grier, one of the main two competing for the starting spot.
“This team needs leadership, this team needs a voice, needs identity. At this point, it’s still really early in the spring. We’re still going through a lot of growing pains and working with a lot of guys and working through a lot of different … It’s just still early. We have a lot of stuff to work with and I’m excited to get rolling with it.”
And as for the other man showing his skills, sophomore Treon Harris assures media and fans that the word competition is far from his mind.
“That don’t mean nothing that’s anywhere, everywhere. Everyone has to compete for a spot. Me and Will, we just going out there everyday, just getting better, getting each other better.”
