The No. 7 Florida claimed their 15th straight victory after sweeping Auburn (25-14, 25-21, 25-10) in the O’Dome Wednesday night. The Gators have now had seven consecutive sweeps and have won 24 straight sets.
Florida hit a season-best hitting efficiency at .522, with two players operating above .600. Freshman middle Rhamat Alhassan registered a .636 clip alongside her nine kills and two blocks. Junior outside hitter Živa Recek nailed a career-best .643 hitting efficiency and another nine kills for the team.
The Gator’s offense and defense remains strong as they conquered the Tigers. Junior Mackenzie Dagostino had six digs in addition to her 35 serving assists and one serving ace. Senior libero Holley Pole dominated the back row for another match with a total of 13 digs.
The Orange and Blue continued another streak against the Tigers, keeping them at a .133 clip. This marks the seventeenth time the Gators have kept an opponent below a .197 all season.
The Gators also had just six attack errors against Auburn, its lowest in SEC play.
There are four more matches left in conference play for the Gators. Next up, Florida will take flight to Lexington on Sunday where they will go head to head with No. 15 Kentucky. Florida holds a two-match advantage over the Wildcats (22-4, 11-2 SEC) in league standings. The match up is set for noon and will be broadcasted on the SEC Network.
