Florida had coaches all over the country in four different states on Tuesday including one coach who was visiting the Lone Star state.
That coach was tight ends coach Derek Lewis who visited defensive end Kingsley Keke (6-3, 300, Richmond, TX George Ranch High) and the visit went well.
“Coach [Derek] Lewis from Florida came by,” Keke said. “Due to the rules I couldn’t talk to him in person so I had to call him after school. But when I called him he was telling me that I was the real deal and that I didn’t realize how good I was and could be and that all of the colleges are going to start coming to see me and offer me. He said that he really wants me come visit Florida.”
This was the first time for Keke to talk to Florida in a few weeks but the defensive end expects that to change soon.
“I don’t talk to Florida as much as other schools but Coach Lewis said that was going to change,”Keke said. “Coach Lewis said that Florida needs me and they are going to start recruiting me hard. He said that I’m an athletic guy and a good size so that I would fit in at the 3-technique and maybe some end.”
With Florida now turning up the heat in Keke’s recruitment he wants to visit Gainesville to see how the environment is in Gainesville and around the program.
“I would like to take a visit to Florida but I don’t have a set time of when I will visit,” Keke said. “It will most likely be during the summer though. I want to see how the coaches are and how the players act. I just really need to see if I fit there.”
Despite being from the state of Texas the talented defensive end admits that he has watched a lot of Florida games and that drives up his interest.
“I have a lot of interest in Florida but I need to go down there and see it for myself,” Keke said. “I know some people that went to Florida as students and they liked it. Plus, Florida has been in the top three in defense the last few years.”
Even though Keke has interest in Florida he admits that two in state schools have the early edge in his recruitment.
“I’m pretty open right but I can kind of like Texas and Texas A&M a little bit,” Keke said. “I’m pretty much open right now though it’s not like I’m saying I’m going to go there or anything like that.”
