Will Muschamp has been great at finding prospects under the radar the last few years and he may have found another one this year.
Ocala (Fla.) West Port offensive lineman Delroy Baker is a relatively unknown prospect for Gators fans but he was on campus this past Saturday.
“It was good, real good,” Baker said. “I got to tour the campus and see everything on both the athletic and academic side of things. I got to meet the coaches and talk to them more about my offer and where I would fit in at. I got to see the biology department because that’s what I want to major in and I didn’t know, but they have one of the top 50th best biology departments in the country.”
The highlight of the trip for the 6-foot-6, 275-pound Baker came when he was touring the football facilities.
“One of the coolest things was the vibrating chair that they had in the football complex,” Baker said. “But overall they were outstanding and the weight room was real nice and very big with everything you could need in there.”
After getting tours of everything the West Port prospect had a chance to sit down with the Florida coaches.
“I first talked to coach (Tim) Davis for a little bit, he has a good crazy personality,” Baker said. “We had a good conversation and after that I talked to coach (Will) Muschamp. We had a great talk and he telling me about how I would fit in and telling me that they only have 9-10 offensive lineman on the roster and need more because some graduate this year. They see me at offensive tackle in their offense.”
For Baker, he is taking a tour across the country this week but after that he plans to make a decision shortly afterwards.
“I want to make a decision within the two weeks,” Baker said. “Right now my top 2 are Florida and Indiana. I’m going to Indiana on Thursday to see what they have to offer me.”
