Florida lost a receiver commitment last week when Florida and Ryeshene Bronson parted ways.
The Gators are wasting no time looking for other receivers to fill the void vacated by Bronson’s departure. One prospect the Gators are looking at is Orlando (Fla.) Lake Nona receiver Ryan Sousa.
“Coach (Joker) Phillips came to see me play in our spring game last week,” Sousa said. “He didn’t get to talk to me but he told my coach that he was impressed with how I played in my spring game. He told me that he wants me to come to camp and watch me move around and catch balls live to earn an offer from Florida. I plan to camp at Florida in June.”
Even though the 6-foot, 180-pound Sousa doesn’t have an offer from Florida, he says they would be high on his list if they did offer.
“All of my options are open right now but I do feel like they would be high on my list if they offered,” Sousa said. “The fact that it’s a great academic school and they have a great football team speaks for itself and I like that.”
Florida’s offense hasn’t shown they can throw the ball very effectively over the last few years but Sousa is still impressed by the offense.
“I like Florida’s offense scheme,” Sousa said. “I like that they run a pro-style offense but yet they still have three receiver sets. So I like how they can mix up the formations in a pro-style offense and get receivers on the field.”
Sousa says he also plans to visit Florida State, Cincinnati and Rutgers this summer and he may try to fit other visits into his schedule this summer.
