Offensive line is always a position of need in the physical league of the SEC. The Gators currently have three linemen committed but are looking to add even more in 2014.
One of the top targets on the Gator’s board is Jacksonville (Fla.) Providence offensive lineman David Sharpe who received a visit from Florida on Saturday.
“Coach (Tim) Davis and coach (Brad) Lawing visited me at practice on Saturday for our first day in pads,” Sharpe said. “It was really good to see them come out and watch me. They both told my coach that they were happy to see me and that I had a great practice. They told my coach that I had a good work ethic and that they were looking forward to seeing me again for another practice this spring.”
For Sharpe, who has visited Florida now twice this year, he is looking to continue developing relationships with the coaches at Florida.
“I’m getting more comfortable with all of their coaches,” Sharpe said. “I talk to coach (Will) Muschamp and coach Lawing the most. Coach Lawing is now recruiting my area. I like both of them a lot and they are both down to earth guys that can talk about other stuff besides football. They are always just checking in with me but a lot more lately.”
The 6-foot-8, 275-pound Sharpe is taking the recruiting process slow but he has set up a few visits for this summer already.
“I know I’m going to visit Alabama, North Carolina and Georgia this summer,” Sharpe said. “I’m going to try and visit Florida and Florida State this summer too. I want to make my decision either at the Army All-American game or on National Signing Day.”
Sharpe said that besides Florida, Alabama and Florida State have also come by Providence High School to see him in person.
