The need for defensive tackles is key as Florida narrows in on 2013 National Signing Day and one of the Gators’ top targets has de-committed from another SEC school.
East Mississippi Community College (Scooba, Miss.) defensive tackle Jarran Reed has been committed to Ole Miss since Dec. 10, but that has changed.
“Jarran has de-committed from Ole Miss,” Anjanette Reed (mother of Jarran) said. “He is down to Florida and Alabama now that he has de-committed.”
The 6-foot-4, 305-pound Reed visited Florida in early January and also has two former teammates at Florida, which helps the Gators according to Anjanette.
“I think Florida has a good chance to get him,” Anjanette Reed said. “Having two of his friends there helps because it gives him a familiar face at school. I know he had a good visit when he visited Florida and he likes the coaching staff there.”
According to his mother a decision is expected to come soon, but that decision hasn’t necessarily been made yet.
“He wants to announce on signing day,” Anjanette Reed said. “But I don’t think he has made his final decision yet.”
