Lacroix, Slilam stay alive in ITA All-American

TULSA, Okla. – Florida senior Alexandre Lacroix had a busy but productive day Thursday at the ITA/D’Novo All-American Championships, winning two singles matches and teaming with junior Nassim Slilam to advance in the doubles competition.

Lacroix, the ninth-ranked singles player in the country, opened with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over No. 66 Brennan Boyajian of North Carolina Thursday morning. In the afternoon, Lacroix battled back from a set down to beat No. 51 Nick Meister of UCLA, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2. 

Lacroix was scheduled to meet No. 21 Rhyne Williams of Tennessee Friday with a quarterfinals berth on the line.

On Thursday evening, Lacroix and Slilam, the No. 20 doubles team in the nation, scored a 9-7 upset victory against the No. 10 team of brothers Marcel and Chris Thiemann of Mississippi. The Gators have a Round of 16 match Friday against Rhyne Williams and John-Patrick Smith of Tennessee.
